A Quick Thought on Forgiveness
Episode 40
While hanging out in Canada making some podcasts in the car I thought about forgiveness. Forgiveness is a tough topic when it comes to being a follower of Jesus Christ because we like to bend the rules sometimes because after all, we are human right? Well I hate to burst your bubble but, according to Matthew 6:14 and 15, when Jesus was teaching the Disciples He said:
“ If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
He was straight and to the point, no maybes or if’s about it, He commanded us to forgive and that way God will also honor our behavior and do the same for us. Will it be easy at times? Of course not and that is where we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to get us through those times where we are having a hard time forgiving someone. All situations are different in our eyes, but to God they are the same because of how He views us and because of the sacrifice He made for us through Jesus in order that we might be forgiven.
So today I want to encourage you to consider forgiving someone who you may have been holding out on because of the wrongs they have done to you. Sometimes we’re so twisted with anger over what someone has done to us and they don’t even have a clue that they did it. Pray about the situation and then do what needs to be done to forgive that individual or individuals. And remember forgiveness doesn’t mean you stick your hand right back in the mouse trap again to get hurt. You forgive and move on with your life knowing that God is pleased with you. I pray that this short message encourages you and I will be doing a series on forgiveness in the near future, so stay tuned for more great biblical messages on relevant topics that touch all of our lives. God Bless You and Yours, Love You All.
